The following pictures document the frame off, and body frame off restoration of my buddy Mike Britts' 1971 convertible. I have some history with this car. About 12 years ago I had the bug for a chrome bumpered Shark, and Mike offered this beauty to me for $8,500. I was so excited. Except, when I went to take it for a drive, the motor had lost oil pressure, and Mike was now in a panic as well. He then offered me $500 off the price, and a spare complete motor. I thought it over a bit, but was in need of immediate transportation. I had to pass on the car. Since then, not much has happened with the car. Mike rebuilt the motor, and put a handful of other items on it, but did not really use it much. He found out a few years ago the inner body frame had rusted right underneath his nose. This has been a covered or garage kept car for nearly 20 years, yet it still rotted out in the lower A pillar and windshield frame. That is where I come in a decade later. After having success saving Killer and Bruiser, it was only natural to give Mike's car a go. Stay tuned, I will keep this page updated as I make progress.
Now....we put it back together starting with the replacement birdcage, welded, prepped, and powder coated.

The rolling chassis now complete (fully rebuilt and shinny powder coated), phase II of the project begins---putting the body back on the frame-fitting the doors, etc......
That's all for now...It goes back to Mike to hook up the electrical, finish the suspension, and basically make it run. It will come back for the final body prep before the end of the year.

A little later than planned...but the car is back in the shop. Since LIFE happens, the car is not quite where we had planned it to be at this point in time. However, the basic electrical, suspension, and other small items are connected and ready to go. Now, I am having to razor strip the old multi layers of paint off the car one square inch at at time.
